Observer Food Monthly | Life and style | guardian.co.uk: Yvonne was interviewed by The Observer Food Monthly last week. As it's the school summer holidays and Yvonne was down in Beaulieu she had to conduct the interview actually in the forest, away from the house and the inevitable cacophony and chaos caused by grandparents and children shouting at each other. There's always a race to get to the phone before Grandpa answers it and shouts 'who are you?' (He's a trifle deaf) 'No - never heard of you!' and they hang up thinking it's a wrong number.

Luckily many journalists work from home these days and are also similarly precariously trapped in the same blighted 'sandwich generation' juggling caring for both parents and children.

The lure of overseas speaking engagements gets ever more attractive escape route via the legitimate excuse of 'work'. Bulgaria and a conference on antioxidants looms seductively.
