Be Careful of Loosing Weight Too Quickly Says Nutritionist

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/charlotte-crosby-likes-being-called-5721746

London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston says that loosing weight too quickly can be dangerous. Too skinny can be just as unhealthy as too fat.

Once your diet takes you below a certain weight you have to choose your calories with precision to maintain your body's need for vitamins, minerals, essential fats and antioxidants to maintain balanced health. A sustainable healthy level of essential fats is typically the first to suffer from a very low fat diets. Without expert guidance from a properly qualified registered and experienced nutritional therapy trained nutritionist may of the body's systems could be compromised.

After the London Nutritionist's warning earlier in the year in The Daily Mirror and The Daily Record defiant Charlotte Crosby told Closer magazine: “I like bring called too skinny.”
She continued: “It’s better than being called too fat"

Charlotte Crosby was quoted as saying "It's not causing anyone any harm"

Yvonne Bishop-Weston disagreed "I've helped a number of anorexic girls in my Harley Street clinic, anorexia is a cruel and spiteful condition that can ruin a young life and is often fatal without a comprehensive multidisciplinary specialist approach"

Last weekend Yvonne was speaking at London Vegfest about how to raise your children heathily on a vegetarian / vegan diet.

Although eating a plant based diet helps you avoid greater risks associated with a standard diet there are optimisation issues you need to be aware of as with any diet. Getting the balance right with high sugar foods and adequate essential fats intake are just as important to keep an eye on as with a meat based diet.

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton Healthy Slim

Harley Street Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston dismisses claims that the Duchess of Cornwall Kate Middleton is 'too skinny'.

Kate Middleton Duchess of Cornwall - Thin?
"The Duchess reportedly has a very healthy attitude to food, eating a good proportion of vegan food and plant based protein.

It is possible to be even slimmer than Kate and still be very healthy.

When I breast fed my son I found it helped burn off excess fat and I'm sure breastfeeding has helped contribute to Kate's trim figure.

For women not so well educated in healthy eating they can become fat phobic and miss out on essential fats which can contribute to a whole host of problems such as infertility, depression, digestion, hormonal and skin problems.

Kate looks healthy with good skin, shiny hair and toned muscle so I have no reason to believe she has got the balance anything other than perfect"

Are spaghetti hoops really one of your five-a-day? Which? says foods high in salt and sugar should be stripped of logo | Mail Online

Are spaghetti hoops really one of your five-a-day? Which? says foods high in salt and sugar should be stripped of logo | Mail Online

London Harley Street clinical Nutritionist commented on the Which? demands for more honest food labelling in The Mail Online today

The Department of Health's 5 A DAY logo and portion indicator apply to fresh, frozen and canned fruit and vegetables with no added fat, sugar or salt so clearly wouldn't apply to spaghetti hoops

I agree with which? that manufacturers should be forbidden to claim a portion of 5 a day when a food lacks the fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants - the very reasons why we are encouraged to eat more fruit and veg, although the science suggests we need at least 8 x 80g portions to reap meaningful benefits.

More importantly though the GDA system that manufacturers use instead of the easy to understand Fodd Standard's Agency's Traffic Light System should be exposed by Which?

Manufacturers use upper limits of recommendations for sugar fat and salt and make GDA labelling too complicated for consumers to understand by using percentages rather than making it clear that a product is 'high in fat' or 'high in sugar' using a red colour.

Manufacturers are also misleading consumers with their recommended portions. In workshops when we ask participants to measure out their normal portion of cereal it never matches the recommended baby portion used in nutritional information on the packets.

Heinz spokesperson Nigel Dickie said:
‘For Heinz Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce, the 1 of your 5 a day comes from the tomatoes. Our soups, beans and spaghetti are low in fat and sugar, and have also benefited from salt reduction in line with the Department of Health's Responsibility Deal targets.

The truth about men, women and food | Life and style | The Observer

The truth about men, women and food | Life and style | The Observer:

Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston In the Observer Magazine on the Psychology of eating and gender - men, women and food.

"Bishop-Weston sees gender differences less in how people eat, more in how they think about their diets. 'Women have more emotional attachments to food – due to media pressure they attach guilt to carbs and saturated fats, and often feel a responsibility to eat healthily in a way that men don't,' she says. 'Interestingly, though, I see a trend towards 'effort' that spans and unites the sexes. People are becoming more receptive to things that take longer. People are looking for an identity with their food."
