#Health Teens Mal-Nutrition - Teenagers not getting enough says London Nutritionist

Picture of Teens' Health: Why are we failing our young teens when it comes to getting them to follow a healthy diet?
The Mirror: According to nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston, the problem arises because we’re socially programmed to make sure our younger kids and babies eat healthily and take extra vitamins, but not encouraged to focus on teenagers, who by this age are mostly making their own food choices.
“This is a mistake as the teenage years are incredibly vital for when it comes to nutrition,” says Bishop-Weston.
“Age 13 to 18 is the period of growth spurts, frantic hormone activity and high academic stress – in fact, the body needs a higher amount of nutrients then more than at almost any other time of life.”

Charlotte Crosby was quoted as saying "It's not causing anyone any harm"

Last weekend Yvonne was speaking at London Vegfest about how to raise your children heathily on a vegetarian / vegan diet.

Although eating a plant based diet helps you avoid greater risks associated with a standard diet there are optimisation issues you need to be aware of as with any diet. Getting the balance right with high sugar foods and adequate essential fats intake are just as important to keep an eye on as with a meat based diet.

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton Healthy Slim

Harley Street Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston dismisses claims that the Duchess of Cornwall Kate Middleton is 'too skinny'.

Kate Middleton Duchess of Cornwall - Thin?
"The Duchess reportedly has a very healthy attitude to food, eating a good proportion of vegan food and plant based protein.

It is possible to be even slimmer than Kate and still be very healthy.

When I breast fed my son I found it helped burn off excess fat and I'm sure breastfeeding has helped contribute to Kate's trim figure.

For women not so well educated in healthy eating they can become fat phobic and miss out on essential fats which can contribute to a whole host of problems such as infertility, depression, digestion, hormonal and skin problems.

Kate looks healthy with good skin, shiny hair and toned muscle so I have no reason to believe she has got the balance anything other than perfect"
